Joy of Giving Something, Inc. (JGS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supporting the photographic arts through grants to museums, educational institutions and community-based organizations.

VISION

JOY OF GIVING SOMETHING (JGS) was founded in 1998 by Howard and Janet Stein as a non-profit philanthropic corporation to support creative projects that attempt to illuminate the impact of present-day events and discoveries on future conditions.

MISSION

To accomplish this goal JGS makes grants to small and medium-sized arts organizations that support emerging artists working in photography and related media who are producing new and important work, and more established artists in need of special assistance or consideration.

Through its education grantmaking, JGS works to eliminate barriers to high quality arts education, supporting programs that offer learners of all ages and abilities access to the resources essential for visual literacy and twenty-first century learning.

Grantmaking

JGS supports the photographic arts through grants to museums, schools, and not-for-profit organizations. These grants support emerging artists working in photography who are producing new and important work, and more established artists in need of special assistance or consideration.

We are equally committed to supporting visual and media arts education programs for youth. With a primary geographic focus on New York, JGS offers funding for visual literacy programs for middle and high school aged youth, as well as scholarships for students pursuing post-secondary degrees in photography and visual arts.
